Author Neil Placky is kicking off a new series books revolving around a rookie FBI agent named Angus Green. The first book titled “The Next One Will Kill You” is a promising start to a new character.
Agent Green is newer FBI agent. His is an account by trade and working mostly financial crimes. He gets pulled into a murder investigation when an employee at his favorite bar disappears. It turns out that employee had contacted the FBI with information about a criminal conspiracy.
Co-workers realize Agent Green is perfect to help in the investigation. The bar happens to be a gay bar, and Angus Green is gay. Various people with information are hesitant to talk to the feds, but when Green starts asking questions they open up.
The story takes a few interesting twists and turns. Firs they have to figure out what it is the informant had a tip on. Then once that puzzle is solved they need to know who the bad guys are and what these people are targeting for a crime. It makes for a fun page turning adventure.
I could tell the author has done some research into the FBI. For Agent Green being in the FBI is his second career. More than a few of the agents I know started out with a background in the private sector and moved over to being an agent after a chance meeting with an agent. Also, terms used in dialog and descriptions of firearms was accurate.
If you are looking for an original plot line with well-written characters I would recommend checking out “The Next One Will Kill You”.
