John Milton is back helping people in trouble in the new book Bright Lights. Milton, a former assassin for a secret British spy organization, finds himself wrapped up a kidnapping and Mexican drug cartels.
This book is about Milton going to Law Vegas to see a boxing match. Along the way, he meets Jessica at a roadside diner. Her car broke down, and she needs a ride to Vegas. As they arrive at her home, Milton knows something is wrong. Jessica’s father is missing, and there are signs of a fight.
Never one to walk away from people in need, Milton jumps in to help Jessica. Unknowingly getting himself wrapped up with members of a Drug Cartel.
This might be the fifteenth book in the Milton series, but it reads like a standalone. Many of the books in this series do. There are some characters and events from past books mentioned. However, Author Mark Dawson added enough detail in this book to ensure the reader knows the backstory.
The book is quick-paced, with a variety of action taking place. Car chases, unarmed fight, stealth break-in, and some good old shootouts. The story has some intriguing twists, and maybe even a few double-crosses.
Anyone who had read a John Milton book needs to pick this one up. Even if you have not read anything by Mark Dawson, I would suggest checking Bright Lights out.
